3 Expert Secrets for Shinier Hair

Want to know how celebrity hairstylists are able to achieve the silky, Rapunzel-like locks they do on a regular basis? We found out for you. Incorporate these three tips from the experts into your beauty routine to get your shiniest, most beautiful hair yet.
The Blow-Dry Trick
Celebrity hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai recommends utilizing the “cool” button on your blow-dryer (which you may have always seen, but never thought to use). To get a smooth and shiny blowout, wait until your hair is almost completely dry (about 75 percent) and then blast the cool setting. “This will help seal the hair cuticle and set the final look while also boosting shine,” says Fekkai.
The Styling Savior
According to Alli Webb, founder of Drybar, using an ionic, ceramic brush (those with boar bristles are typically deemed the best in the industry) can leave your hair extra smooth and polished because it has negative ions in it that help tame frizz and reduce dullness. “The delivery of negative ions closes the hair cuticle tightly, creating a smooth surface that reflects light for mega shine,” says Webb.
The Post-Shower Solution
“My greatest tip that has produced the best results for my clients is to allow the hair to air dry, which works to enhance your natural texture,” says celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves.  “Allowing your hair to air dry results in smoother strands that can be easily touched up with a flat iron, or even a blow-dryer (your hair—after it’s been air-dried—will be far more strong and resilient than it would have been if you took a dryer to it completely wet). I style all my clients for shoots, red carpet events, weddings, etc., from air-dried, well-conditioned hair.”

A recipe to help nourish chapped skin and heal split cuticles

This luscious-sounding formula—fondly called “Hot Buttered Thumb”—was designed by the owner of a Los Angeles nail salon to nourish chapped skin and heal split cuticles. It uses warm milk to help break down dead skin and brown sugar to gently slough it off—and it is deliciously scented with cinnamon and spiced rum.
Find out the nail salon secret for smooth, healed hands, even in the coldest winter weather:
Ingredients
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup spiced rum
Dash of nutmeg
1 cup milk, heated
2 to 3 drops cinnamon essential oil
2 hand towels
2 quart-size plastic bags

1. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, rum, and nutmeg to a scrub consistency. Fill another bowl with the warmed milk and cinnamon oil.
2. Soak hands in milk for 2 to 3 minutes.
3. Massage the exfoliating scrub onto hands and slough off dead skin; rinse with warm water.
4. Wet the hand towels with hot water. Pat hands dry and apply a moisturizer.
5. Slide hands into plastic bags and wrap each with a warm, wet hand towel; let sit for 5 minutes and then remove.

26 seconds Is all it takes for the ‪‎parabens‬ in your skin care products to enter your bloodstream.

Paraben based products include Propylparaben , Phenoxyethanol , Methylparaben, Benzyl Benzoate, and Benzyl Salicylate. 26 seconds is all it takes for the Paraben in your skin care products to enter your bloodstream.

Most of the cosmetic industry could not care less that many studies have directly linked ‪#‎Paraben‬ based products to breast cancer and disrupting body's endocrine system. As a result, different derivatives of Parabens are commonly used in cosmetics, skin care products, sunscreens, deodorants or antiperspirants.
In fact, 99% of breast cancer tissues have alarming level of Parabens.

Drink this Daily for Alkaline Balance, Inflammation & Clear Skin

Ingredients:
  • 1-2 cups water (room temp or hot water are both fine based on preference)
  • 1 lemon, juiced and sliced
  • 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. aloe vera
  • 1 tsp. honey is optional for sweetener and antibacterial properties (omit on sugar-free detox)
  • optional – toss in some herbs like mint or basil for digestion or inflammation support

What Makes this Drink So Special

1. Lemon
Lemons have astringent qualities and are alkalizing, even though before you consume them they’re acidic. Consuming lemons and other Vitamin C rich foods assist with iron absorption which means more sustainable energy, because if your iron stores are low, you’re sure to feel fatigued. Lemons can also stimulate the liver, promoting detox and a clearer complexion. Unless you suffer from heartburn or another GI issue, drinking lemon water daily can be extremely rewarding and give you a bit of a glow!
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an age old remedy for literally dozens of health issues. Just check out this post 35 Awesome Ways to Use Apple Cider Vinegar for more ideas. “ACV” is often used to combat acid reflux caused by an underproduction of stomach acid, but that’s not all.
It’s commonly consumed because it’s rich in enzymes and helps to balance the bacteria in the gut, which of course leads to healthier, more beautiful looking skin. Some people consume apple cider vinegar in their morning drinks daily and have the most gorgeous skin ever. Diabetics may turn to this potent elixir to help lower their blood sugar and augment their insulin response.
3. Aloe Vera
Most of us know aloe vera for its healing properties when applied to the skin, usually to treat a cut or a burn. However, aloe vera can also be consumed internally and while its flavor alone isn’t the main attraction, it’s palatable and easily disguised among other flavors. Aloe vera is often used to treat gut issues, and someresearch has been done to discover whether or not aloe vera can be used to treat concerns like colitis and diabetes. This is another plant that does wonders for the look and feel of the skin and many report that taking aloe vera regularly results in clearer, brighter looking skin.
4. Honey
Honey has been a sacred food for as far back as we can go. It’s been used as food and medicine for thousands of years, and today is still touted for its antibacterial, anti fungal properties – and is the most common reference and rebuttal to Michael Pollan’s Quote “Don’t Eat Anything that Doesn’t Rot”. Why? Because honey doesn’t rot, and almost everyone will agree that it’s a naturally perfect medicine. While honey is high in sugar and should be consumed very mindfully, medicinally it’s really quite good for fighting infection and can even be applied to the skin to help treat acne and scarring.
5. Mint & Basil

Fresh wild and culinary herbs are a wonderful addition to any diet! Mint is a well-known remedy for digestive issues and easing nausea, though it doesn’t hurt knowing mint also contains minerals and anti-inflammatory compounds as well. Basil is also anti-inflammatory and flavorful added to food and beverages with a healthy twist.
